Shale ridge system in USFS ownership but access confined to gated roads, which were put in to log the mountain. Forests on cooler aspects are doghair deciduous.;W aspect on shoulder of a side ridge on shale geology. Forest of short Table Mtn. Pine with a few Chestnut Oak. There's an old pine snag with charcoal but no fire scars on live pines, which probably came in after fire. Some pine saplings may represent another, even younger, cohort. Tall shrub layer is dominated by Scrub Oak, and Blueberry & Huckleberry dominate the short shrub layer. Very few to no herbs. Large pine 50+ yrs old.
